Opinions on potential Eterna purchase

Hi folks,
I'm considering purchasing this Eternamatic. It is a 35mm case with a 1249TC movement. I am curious of opinions on originality of the dial, mainly just because of how clean and bright the white is.

Thanks in advance!

Dial looks good to me, that is a nice piece and I love these cases. I have a similar manual one:

Whats the asking price?

Absolutely original, and the watch appears to be a nice, honest example.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I like the case design as well (the lugs are cool). I'd prefer if there were some arabic numerals like yours but I'm a sucker for these. I can get it for $380.

I'm always sceptic on those "to clean to be true" dials with "old/rusted" (not sure what is a proper term) hands...

As a personal preference, I'd rather for something like the below which has a nice patina (personal point of view) and a honest description of the state of the watch. At least, one can make a well-thought decision.

Yes I also prefer the numerals and I also prefer the early manual models over the Eterna-Matic.
But can’t argue with the condition of that one, that is a fair price IMO! 😀

That was the point that had me questioning: if the dial is so clean, should the hands be in better shape?

Nah, 225€ for a pretty bad dial and boring cased Eterna-Matic that needs service?
380$ for the above is a way better purchase!

I hear you, the boring is purely a question of preference, but I get your point.

"Corroded" hands. This dial is 100% original, and it is not uncommon, depending on the alloys employed, to see hands degrade to a much greater degree than the dials.

To be clear, your general concern, or skepticism, is healthy! A dial that appears too clean, and is inconsistent with other parts of a watch, should be treated with caution.

I just happen to know vintage ETERNA very well, and so assessing this one was easy.

Tony speaketh the Truth. Consider that the metal is much more exposed and often very thin pieces of metal, this makes perfect sense. I've had a number of watches showing the same pattern of degradation.

Thank you, and this is the value of such forum and discussion. To exchange, and to learn, surely for me.

Congrats to the OP on his new watch!
