Curious what folks think of the brand. I’m relatively ignorant of its history and status, beyond reading a few articles and watching a review video or two. It’s generally absent from those luxury watch “pyramid” rankings, but I gather some see it as on par with JLC and with movement finishing akin to AP. It’s a relatively new brand, I know, and is really a collaboration of smaller operations with $ from large corporations backing it.

The Tonda 1950 dress watch is a really compelling piece, to my eyes, in white gold with a wonderfully finished movement featuring a platinum microrotor, and a Hermes strap. Preowned for around 10k—seems like an insane amount of high horology for the price of a speedy or a sub.

Pics from Chrono24.

Parmigiani Fleurier is a top brand that few people follow or understand. Beautiful case work and high grade movement finishing, on a level to Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet or Vacheron Constantin. One problem is resale value, it's terrible. But if you buy pre-owned you can get a super high end watch for not a lot of money.

I've had a few over the years, the one I have now is a Toric automatic, a LE piece of 10 from 2019. Rose gold Toric case, hand guilloche slate grey dial, high grade chronometer movement. Bought it used a few years ago for a little over $10k, a bargain for the quality. If one comes with the original Hermes strap it's a bonus, these are the finest stock straps I've ever seen. Super top quality crocodile hides, exquisite finishing, just the right amount of bolstering, not stiff, a pleasure to wear.

The watch enthusiast community has taken notice. It is a good deal at $10k...they were selling pre-owned for $5-$7k not that long ago.

The watch that got me into watches; the 1996 Memory Time. The aperture at 12 is second time zone indicator. I am a big fan of the brand's early models.

Michel Parmigiani made his name and reputation in restoration...he has worked on many of the treasures in the Patek museum.

IMO, the brand lost its way for some years after 2003 but, as noted above, is now coming back onto the radar.

My observation on PF. Exceptional quality and value on the pre-owned market, and no shortage of options there. Disastrous depreciation when bought new. Be aware of relatively high servicing costs (and sometimes a lengthy wait) when sent back to Fleurier.

I can also vouch that the Tonda 1950 is a really lovely watch and a delight to wear. Very happy to chat more with the OP via DM. Nice to see someone else here taking notice of PF.

Absolutely gorgeous and alternative watches for very little money (it’s all relative). Looking at one a little while on eBay I contacted the service centre as was pleasantly surprised to know that servicing cost wasn’t stratospheric.

The blue dial SS version is also really striking. Image from EuropeanWatch, where this can be picked up preowned for the price of a new SM pro. Depreciation indeed!
