Cal 564 Vintage Gold Dial Ref 168017

https://www.ebay.com/itm/386026571041

I was looking at this watch and Constellations in general (trying to find a good one for under $700). The seller sent out an offer for $475. Any opinions are welcome. The case--and esp. the back cover--look quite bad.

Thanks

To me personally, the value of this watch is in the movement only for the spare parts.

Case is really bad and the dial is destroyed by the hour hand scratching the dial.

You can easily do much better for around $500.

I feel very strongly that, unless there is something you find particularly attractive and unique about a specific piece, you should hold out for a better example. This is especially true of something that, in its prime, would have been a smart dress watch. For that reason, I too would pass.

Yeah, really would avoid this one, better spend a little bit more or wait some longer for a better one.

The dial is a mess. The case has a HUGE chunk out of it.

These are dress watches and you would be much better spending your money on a nice example of a less expensive watch.

I should be not such a big deal to find a nice one for around 500-700€ (gold capped)...

That watch is in truly terrible condition and I would not recommend it. That said, finding a good Constellation under $700 USD on eBay may not be realistic. So you may want to adjust your goals, expectations, or budget. Or start hunting in places that are off the beaten track.

I’m the kind of guy usually attracted to bargain watches, and I don’t mind some flaws. But that one is awful; I think it’s unwearable.

Parts watch at best.
