    Hi all
While I've always liked the C shapes, I've never really paid much attention to them, as I'm still hunting for nice pie pans. However I came acros these for about $600 each and I think they would be good at this price? Views? I haven't bought them yet.

Yeah I saw them listed for sale as well. They look a little........scrappy I guess is the right word. The bracelets look a little out of shape and the cases look knocked around a bit. I'd try and talk him down for the pair and see how you go. Probably $1000 posted for the pair?

I believe the first one is a franken. If the day / date window has a divider like the second watch has it's a caliber 102x inside. If there's no day / date divider it should have a 75x inside. The chronometer versions have a 1 at the end, so the first watch should have a 751 - but it has a 1021. It's possible it came like that but highly doubtful. The serial number puts it at 1972, one of the earliest of the 102x series and jives with the dial layout for the wording, but I still think it's incorrect.

Not too sure about that. I don't think the dials are compatible between the 751's and the 1021's. I guess it's possible that someone took the feet off the dial, but it doesn't make sense. Replacement dial is also a possibility.

Need to see case reference numbers to know if all is well. Neither of these are in the greatest of shape, so I think $600 each is rather high.

Then again, I always seem to be a year or so behind the times on pricing...

Thanks all. Am going to pass. Have to stop thinking about getting something just ok for a cheap price. Instead should focus on getting something very good for an appropriate price.

Hey, if it catches your fancy and you want to try it, there's nothing wrong with these $500 to $1000 vintage watches - especially if the price is right. In this case (pun intended), it wasn't. Half the fun of collecting is buying, trying, and flipping in your 'formative years'. If I never bought a Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece MP7108, I would have never known how much I liked guilloché dials and that I need to keep my dress watches under 38 mm and less than 8.5 mm thick. From there I went into ultra-thins, a very important and maybe the most significant part in terms of brands and important calibers, of my collection. Add to that the connections and friendships you make, and it's immeasurable in money.
