Looking for a chrono. Off the 3 listed below which do you think has more headroom even though I feel they are already extravagantly priced (I know watches aren’t investments but bear with me):

    1) speedy moon 345.0809
    2) Nina Rindt compax
    3) Eric Clapton tri compax

All are semi-similar in price and I love and would wear them all but only 1 is in the cards for me at this time. Both 36 & 42mm fit my wrist just fine so size is not a factor.

Please briefly explain your rationale if possible

Knowing absolutely nothing about you or what you’re looking for in a timepiece, I’d say tri compax because I like them and they are obviously very functional ;)

Is #1 really the same price point as #2/#3?

    otherwise:

Believe it or not a speedy moon in top condition (depending if a 1447/805 or 1479/812 and small/large/happy moon disc of course) is $17K-19K+ and an unpolished Eric Clapton with correct GF bracelet is $22K. Ask me how I know? :D

#2 Nina Rindt - I just missed out on a pulsations dial (rarer than tachy) for 22K so they’re not that far off

Because of this, I’ll say the Nina Rindt.

Tough question in the middle of a vintage watch price bubble. Or maybe even towards the end of the bubble when prices are flattening out. ::stirthepot::

You think we are flat/flattening or have more floor to go? These are just opinions obviously

@Dan S and OP, bit of a side question from someone who started collecting vintage for 3-4 years, when was the last time vintage prices were flat or declining? Asking because history tends to repeat itself as they say

If it was a standard Speedmaster, I’d say that’s the top choice. But for me out of this grouping it would be the Clapton.

With that said, I do have a silver dial exotic Nina available though that’s obviously different. I also really like pulsation Nina’s and can get one of those as well if interested. But still.. out of this grouping I’d go with the Clapton!

Eric Clapton and it isn’t even close imho. Something about the rectangular sub-dial hands on the Nina doesn’t scratch my itch. Obviously my opinion is worthless because you’re the one who has to wear it, but the Clapton is ice cold cool and has more complications. I have a soft spot for complicated watches, for what it’s worth.

All in all though, I’d be happy to wear all three.
