·Good morning. This is my first post. Recently, my father gave me his old Seamaster De Ville. It is in need of restoration. I live in a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, so I would have to send it overseas (preferably in Europe) for this restoration. I'm attaching photos for reference. Some of the gold seems to have "peeled off" on the bracelet and the glass is heavily scratched and at there is a small crack on the glass on the upper-right corner between 1 and 2. In your opinion - should I send it to Omega directly or is there another restorer in Europe you can recommend ? Also, what price range would I be looking at, broadly speaking ? I'm not a well-off guy so I can't really afford dropping, say, €3000 on restoring the De Ville (also not sure if it is worth doing or not as I am not too knowledgeable about vintage watches, I own a vintage 1972 Omega Geneve mechanical watch but that's it, so I'm no collector). I mean if the restoration would cost say €1000-2000 I would do it as my father is 84 years old and it will serve as a memento, but value-wise I'm not sure how much the watch is worth and if it is worth restoring (I've tried looking online to get an idea of how much it is worth but prices seem to vary greatly). Any opinions about the watch would be greatly appreciated. I can provide more photos if you wish.
