studying to better identify things regarding the multiple aspects of vintage watches. up for bidding on ebay this 1954 321. as described "near-mint original signed silver satin dial with three registers ". i am thinking it is a redial . firstly, the dial does look so pristine for a 65yo watch. also, the edges of the subdials look rounded rather than sharp and well defined. what do you think? appreciate any thoughts. trying to learn, thanks. listing is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-Soli...a=1&pg=2334524&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The inconsistent spacing between the hour markers and seconds numbers, and the inconsistent alignment of the hour markers with the seconds tick marks definitely makes me wonder. So does the differences between the 4s in 40 and 45. The subdial registers look a bit off to me as well. I don't see how this could be the original printing.
Not an expert, but the outer ring printed on the sub dial at the 9 o'clock position is all over the place . The hour markers are touching 35 and 40 and don't even line up with 55 and 55. A poor redial....
i feel like im on a roll. also from ebay, im seeing at the hour markers, 5,35,40 covers the numbers. also a redial? here is the ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-2884...a=1&pg=2334524&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
watchtinker, when compared to an authentic piece, the redial appears more apparent . thanks for the comparison. as an aside, the more i learn the more i realize how just plain lucky i was to have purchased a authentic and original piece. in hindsight, i really had no clue what i was doing. after a couple of weeks reading this site, even i can see this is a redial. it seems hard to believe that a business that deals with watches wouldn't recognize that this is not a redial. this seller has 100% feedback. really makes one wonder about their integrity.
