Hello! I wonder if I could run this watch past you - it's currently on sale on Ebay. I was thinking of buying it as a Christmas present for someone, but I'm not sure if it's a Frankenstein watch, as I've been googling and I saw a similar movement in a Speedmaster. It's on sale for £400. Many thanks!
Thanks, Shaun - that's reassuring. Do you mean that some of the Constellations might be expected to have the same movements as some of the Speedmasters, as I'd assumed they'd be different? Regarding the writing on the black section of the movement, I noticed that the 's' on the 'six' looked more like a '5', but, then, again it's not really that clear and could just be the angle or the way the stamp has been applied. Perhaps, I'm being paranoid, but I did notice that it looked more like an 's' on the Speedmaster movement image. I also noticed that the gap between the letters in the 'R/T' is a bit bigger on the Constellation images, but, again, I suppose that that could be readily explicable.
Seems strange you have seen a speedmaster with the same movement as they are usually manual wind or automatic.
This thread has some interesting comments about that movement, it would have me reconsider buying. https://omegaforums.net/threads/what-the-heck-is-inside-this-omega-pre-bond.21002/
Thanks, guys. I think I'd probably best look for something else, as I can't be sure that's it's the original movement.
