If you do a site search, I think you'll find several threads on the 1020.

Not really collectable. Lots of "restored" watches with refinished dials just like earlier Seamasters.

That is too bad since I like some of these models.
Restored through letting it serviced, right?

There is nothing wrong with them, everyone likes something different.

Good, affordable watches with Omega last manufacture movements. Go for them!

    So you would recommend them?
You can get these models for 350USD around which is a decent price.

Yes, why not? Not being the most popular among the collectors crowd isn' t a reason not to. Quality isn't as high as previous series, neither is price. That doesn't make them bad watches.

    I’ve got 1979ish SG Seamaster Deville. It’s a day/date and I really like it.

Super easy to set - wind and keeps practically perfect time.

    It’s a great dress watch.

I am an absolutely rookie here, but a few months ago I bought my first Omega ever, a TV dial 1020 mouvement from 1979. I am no fan of square watches, but the oportunity presented and I bought it. Now I love it! It is a very reliable watch, discrete yet elegant, and it's size falls in my comfort zone (maybe 37 or 38 mm per side and rather thin).
I can't say anything intelligent about its resale value or collectability, but as a daily watch is great!

Nice you put it on a leather strap!
Looking good and gives it a bit of a more elegant look to the metal band.
I guess this kinda model runs in 300 to 400USD range?
    Enjoy it hehe

Yes, Cal 1020 ...Day-Date, Quickset for both w/ hacking seconds. Hi-Beat Automatic running @28,800 (8 beats per second) which gives a super smooth seconds sweep.

Awesome! Thanks for the info and will look out for it.
Tomorrow I will be going a bit for a field research in Seoul but I already now that there are lots of OMEGA models from the 70s and 80s.
Just need to check for redials, crown, movement quality, Serial No. match and so on.
    Already excited!

Some of my best watch purchases have come out of South Korea. Good luck!

Just be aware about 90% of the vintage Omegas you see out of South Korea on eBay have redialed and most of the time polished to within an inch of their lives. I haven't been to Seoul, but I would expect a similar experience.

Did you buy directly in Korea (e.g. Seoul) or just over internet on Ebay, Chrono24?

Would be awesome if you could give me advive where to look for a successful hunt!
So far Jogno4ga (Sewoon Square and old alley watch market area) & hwanghagdong flea market are on my list.

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, polishing I can imagine & redials I have to check carefully - although they really seem not to care really about that I feel lols...

Btw is it bad if there is the service history/overhaul date encarved/written with a pen into the inner back case (see pic).
