    Hi Of,
Iwc is kinda out of my comfort zone since there are much less sites to learn about them.
I am looking at an IWC with cal. 8521 likely a piepan dial. With serial dated early 50s.
Size of the watch is 34.5 mm. A few articles about its cousin ingenieur ref 666.
But I can not find much infos about this exact model seem to me a pre ingenieur.
Can any one help me out with the info, maybe an article or a blog.
    Thanks in advance.
    H

The model really has no connection to the Ingenieur, aside from the two sharing the same movement. I suspect that the case is a snap-back. I have a few of vintage IWC catalogues, but not from that period, so I do not know the model reference.

The movement, an early version of the famed cal. 85 family, is outstanding. You can find plenty of information about the design, and its designer, Albert Pellaton, who was technical director of IWC Schaffhausen from 1944 until 1966. Here's a basic overview:

Looks like a very nice watch, but unless it has anti-magnetic features I'm not sure I would call it a pre-Ingenieur. What is the serial number range?

The serial range is 1,33mil, which seems to be from 50-55. Any idea?

Is that the movement or case number? Can you check both?

Most likely 1954-57 based on those numbers.

Great choice. Google "Date Your IWC" and it will show you an appropriate online tool. Records are good, so you should be able to confirm the credentials of the watch. Cal 8521 is really sweet (see below, sorry, couldn't refrain). I have a feeling that @Shabbaz has/had one of the S/S model you are looking at. Good luck!

PS IWC should be in High-End Watches forum imo...
