    Hi!
I recently bought this Omega watch box for what I believe to be a more than fair price. I wasnt sure what it was at the time, but took a chance on the box just because I hadnt seen a similar one before.
After some quick research I now think this box came with the 2998 or 2915 and that it is one of the eariler versions of the box. I am right?

As you see the bottom inlay is missing, but thats pretty easy to replicate. Should I or is that blasfemy?

Last but not least, do anyone know what its worth? Its a blunt question, but i cant find any recent sales of these cases. I saw one sold in 2014 here on OF, but that one was complete (sold for $770).

    Thanks! :)

I also like to keep my watches in nice boxes but I will never pay 770 USD only for the box..I prefer to take a watch for that money..:)

    Thanks!

I see where you're coming from and I kind of agree. On the other hand, if you own a 2915 worth $75 000 and are missing the box, $770 isnt that bad.. :)

Nice find! I have a later box, for an SM300, also missing the insert. You say the inlay will be easy to replicate - are you going to do that yourself or get someone to do it? And if yourself, do you know where you can get hold of that corrugated card Omega use? I was going to butcher a modern LE box but would would prefer a less destructive option!

Would love to see a pic of the watch and the box together.

The later box, for how long up in the sixties was it used. I guess my 1967 SM300 is to young for my box :(

I dont have the funds for watches in this price range, and youre right Im clearly not updated on the current prices

I have a fiancee that dabbles with this kind of thing. She has restored a couple of early Rolex boxes for me with a great result :)
Corrugated card? Im not quite sure what you referring to but didnt Omega use fiberboard?

I think they sometimes used the same stuff for the insert as you have for the lid inner - it looks like some sort of covered corrugated/ridged card... here’s a photo example..

If you can persuade your fiancé to make me one, I’d be happy to pay... maybe she can start a paid hobby here on OF :)
