Opinions welcome on this Seamaster I picked up while back-at a good value.....I am no expert-but the dial looks nice and original... though I wonder about the hands-as they look possibly newer???....I don't think the crown is correct either-even though it is signed....the case looks very nice; has it been over polished? Finally-the 352 movement has a non RG regulator....I have seen a few 352 non RG's before-so I know they exist-but does anyone have any knowledge about this? Thanks!
Non-RG 352's exist because somebody replaced the RG regulator with the swan's neck out of a 354 most likely. You're correct that the crown has been replaced (probably with a diver crown from the 60's), and the hands are probably wrong too. At least they're the correct length.
Cal. 352 movement only came from the factory originally with the Rg regulator. The few that you see including this one has had the regulator replaced. The lower than market price is appropriate for this watch since there are other issues - movement has age aside from the regulator issue, case for me is overpolished, dial has age/patina, crown and hands later replacements.
Thanks for that info...I did not know that about the 352....correct me if I am wrong-but on 354 chronometers-I think i have seen mostly swans neck--but occasionally have seen an RG 354 ???? or is that a change out as well?
Cal. 354 never left factory with Rg regulator - only swan neck so a 354 with a Rg regulator is a franken movement.
