It's a thowback to the old pointer date watches from the 40's and 50's. My biggest gripe is the hands. They just DO NOT go with the rest of the watch. ps - what's with the crescent date indicator being between numbers?
I have a triple date moon phase that was "serviced" by Zodiac and the date indicator was between the numbers. That was "fun" to reposition as all 4 hands had to be removed. The Oris is ok but I'd rather have an actual old 50's watch that this is paying homage to.
I going to go with redial. Those fonts look off to me... see particularly the way the "e" is slightly out of kilter. Pass - there are better examples out there.
Wrong bezel too. EDIT: Made this comment while the original post was taken down, so thought we were goofing around
Dude, why did you edit your post and remove the pictures? WTF????? I put it back, and will continue to put it back if necessary.
Ah, now I see. An attempt at a vintage revival look. Too many style combos that don't look good together.
I don't feel much honesty from this post, hope I'm wrong. Dkychezul, do you have specific questions? Do you own this or are you considering a purchase?
I would pass on this watch. Too many elements just that don't mesh well. I have no idea how new/ old it is, or what may be messed up with it besides the date indicator. I would like to think it did not originally come with those cartoonish hands or enormous crown, though.
Oris Big Crown Pointer Date - looks all original to me and in good condition externally, however as noted the pointer date is not aligned correctly. That in itself is an easy fix (just remove and reset the hands on properly) but it may be an indicator that the watch needs service. It's an older model (unless they have done a re-release or something) so unless you have proof of a recent service, I would count on doing a service. Oris uses solid ETA or Sellita movements, so not difficult to get serviced. Case parts are a problem now since the service provider they use is greedy and won't sell parts anymore. I used to service a lot of Oris but not so much anymore due to the lack of case parts... Cheers, Al
