Was looking through an article outlining a forthcoming Philips auction and noticed this lovely prototype Omega tourbillon. Of course, it will go for much more money than mere mortals like me would be able to afford. The London Olympic Seamaster has a more than a passing resemblance, although the vintage has much finer proportions.
I can fully appreciate wearing modern technology while handling vintage horology! I am obsessed with the unwearable tdmp's
It's got an estimate of CHF100,000-200,000.... Anyone know what the button in the side of the case below the crown is for?
Here's another. Similar pin set, so assuming same movement. There's also a yellow gold model with same movement DON
Sold for 1.18 million CHF. Putting the 2915's to shame. As well as any other Omega ever made. Wonder if it went to the museum?
this was one lot i didn't bother investigating what the buzz was pre-auction but it appears to be a true unicorn watch. that said, i'd rather have the radial speedmaster at philips over this one!
I remember reading about the Heuer auction results and feeling they were a lot lower than expected. But then I realized it's because I've been anchored high from the Paul Newman auction and now this one. Nothing like seeing multiple $500k+ watches in an auction to feel like a $30k watch is now "affordable"
