from the looks this could be out of the 60ies, 70ies, 80ies, 90ies, 00ies or event 10's ... timeless, classy and classic design (ca. 1968 Rolex ref.1600) what have you got that fits this bill? cheers, al
[a$$hole mode on] I got to deduct a couple of point on the Breitling (not classy) and the Junghans (date window mid dial? ... isnt that a dead ringer of pumped up 42mm watch with a 10mm movement ring) full points for the rest [a$$hole mode off]
It's a JLC Reverso Grande Taille reference 270.8.62, measuring 26 x 42 mm (a bit larger than the really "classical" one). I've also purchased a JLC metal bracelet specific to this model to dress it down a bit, depending on occasion. 19 mm lugs, so also got two custom straps for it, one awesome lizard plus two original JLC ones (2x alligator and 2x ostrich). Superior versatility
[defensive mode: ON] Hey now, I never said "classy", I was strictly saying "classic"! Both the Navitimer and the Junghans kept these designs virtually unchanged for over 50 years (Junghan's Bauhaus design was first introduced in 1962 - here is an interesting read http://originalmaxbilljunghans.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-short-guide-original-max-bill.html). Also, the watch is 39 mm, not 42 and houses an ETA/Val 7750. [defensive mode: OFF] Thanks for the other gained points, do I get more now?
As my rotation Omegas are at the spa, and your OP features your DJ, I'll start off with mine. Ref. 6605, 1035 butterfly rotor mov't, black pie pan dial, alpha hands, checkerboard bezel. Rolex USA jubilee band with oval links. (Semi)bubble back too. Not perfect, but a great specimen of the only Rolex model/type I like/would wear (datejust). I call him BlackDJack. P.S.: My Omegas will be back from the spa soon. You ain't seen nothing yet.
I think overall the vintage omega (doesn't matter witch model) is a genuin classic watch! No doubt about i,!
The Gubelin is classic and could also be from any of the decades you mentioned As is the DeVille And so is the Girard Peregaux Also the Thoresen Then again, this little old Timex could fit the bill too
Some of the most timeless designs are the simpler, time only watches. The Reverso has been around for over 80 years, and the Sub for (perhaps) 50 or more?
