One problem, two solutions

Problem as given (while I was being given instructions on garden watering for the next few weeks while a friend checks the house in France she hasn't seen since February 2020):

"Mower won't start."

Madame's solution:

New mower

My solution:

Check fuel level.

It will run with lower fuel level than the mark but not start. Filled up and it started first pull. The dipstick was made for her a few years ago.

But it turns out she has worse problems
"sorting out the disgusting pool, flooded bathroom, no signal to TV etc etc. and the weather is grim!"

Don't you have servants to sort it out?

Nice house!
But expensive to maintain!! 🤦

Many owners struggle with the upkeep of such “chateaux”… and often resort to either turning them in a hotel/BnB or even leverage the help of volunteers to help with repairs.

And on to the next problem.....

"Can't lock garage door" -- my garage door gets tried at least every two weeks, I have a 'tell' for attempts to open it 😒

This is the Château de Hautefort in the Dordogne https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Château_de_Hautefort

Funnily enough my friend's house is 1 Rue de Château but about 40km away and close to a rather unimpressive château. Here is that château's official front door

All the 12 houses in the hamlet are rather like this, some not so well kept. La France profonde 😉

Lovely!!!

Here is a château (not too far AT ALL!! 15 min, tops 😲), where I went three years ago for a friend's wedding... it was magical!! 🥰
