Looks like a decent 168.015 with a caliber 564 from the late 60's. That logo buckle is correct for the period too.

Dennis, you dropped a digit! :) A sharp cased 168.025 (the 015 has a cal 551) although I wouldn't incline to pay the money asked for a flat dial example.

I cant zoom in on the dial but you need to investigate the markers. I'd be asking for a bigger, high res pic.

    Cheers

Hi Desmond, this time I think Dennis is correct. The Ref. 167.015/025 are the non-date models. As you said in your article, they are quite scarce. I've only seen one or two of these.

I still have my Ref. 168.025 that you helped me purchase a number of years ago.

I will always be in your debt for your help.

I suspect you're right, unless the crystal has been unevenly polished to such an extent that it causes optical aberrations.

I'd expect to see some uneven marks (e.g. at the outer end of the 9) due to normal edge refraction, but the other markers are a bit suspect to me.

Without a clear dial shot and a movement shot, well, it's a gamble at that price.

That's because they are not onyx, but painted. And yes, I think they've been poorly repainted.

    Mea Culpa Evan

And to Dennis. He is correct. I blame it all on those aluminiun cooking utensils!

Thanks to all for the replies and info. At the end of the day, it has a lot of initial appeal but with no hope of seeing the movement, even if better dial photos were available, it’s a bit of a risk at that price.

Hi Tamura - thanks for the link, a much more reasonable proposition. I’ll have a further look (via Google Translate).
