I'm completely exhausted and tired after all day from 6AM to 10PM but it was a terrific day and great time spent with family and I just feel so blessed to be able to be lying here in a nice watch and a slightly cake stained suit after an incredible day. It actually makes me look forward to going through that myself one day providing I find the right girl, which isn't something I'd have said before. I want to really thank Trev and the moderator crew for picking up so much slack while I've been so distracted by all of this and family in town, I've got another full day tomorrow of after party while the newlyweds head off on their honeymoon but by Monday / Tuesday I'll be getting caught up on the massive amount of unanswered PMs about this that and the other so if you haven't heard back on something you will rather soon and I apologize for how long it took. As the bridesmaids' driver I didn't have much free time between venues and photo shoots but I took a few shots of my own including the watch of choice, Rolex Daytona 116520
Wow Congrats reminds me of the bachelors and spinsters ball after party I was at in Cuma ! Really congrats to all ash! Best Bill
If the bride was your daughter, the wedding would have shrunk your collectibles. Congrats to your entire family.
Yeah sure Right now we are the torrential rain every freaking day for hours state LOL Congrats to your sister!
Its the brand new 2017 5 series, and it was absolutely amazing, we had that and a matching carbon black F15 X5 as the two cars. I had the X5 and I'd never driven that model before but after feeling it handling better than my '01 330ci in spite of having 1000kg of additional weight and a much higher center of gravity I'm incredibly impressed, its an uncanny feeling like watching an offensive lineman with the agility of a ballet dancer. The 530i was also remarkably quick in a straight line but it turns out its actually a 4 cylinder turbo, they've really come a long way. The SMPP was what I had in mind but when I tried it out with a gold belt buckle and gold cufflinks and tie bar it just looked far too much, and the bridesmaids were already in gold sequinned dresses so I decided to tone it down and go with steel everything and the Daytona was the only polished steel watch I had that would match.
The turbo 4 is becoming more standard for BMW to meet mileage requirements and honestly hard to tell difference from a natural 6 cyl. I've a 2013 750 that's a beast but just not as sharp and precise in the turns as the 5. But the 5 is much bigger than I remember it being. Anyhow looked like a great time!
Yea it had heaps of space, the rear was big enough for Kimmie to fit in with her huge hoop dress which took up a lot of room, our baby sister's E34 wouldn't have even come close so they've grown a lot over the years. The one slight downside of the X5 was the steering was very light and numb and turning circle not that great, driving an E46 after was like arm-day at the gym after the X5, you need some muscle but you can feel everything feedback wise. Incidentally that's my older brother in the 530i picture, he was wearing his black dial 116520 Daytona so we had the matching watches to go with the matching cars.
I had a ci as well! Man I miss that car.. would love to see some pics of yours. Mine was standard trans - I don't see many of those around here.
Nice! Yea mine's a 5 speed manual in a rare colour, Sienna Red Metallic (3 pedal not the SSG version) and apparently only 300 out of the 10,000 they shipped to Australia were so its a pretty rare option especially on a 330 M-Sport, but it feels so very outdated after driving the new models.
Thanks for that! That is a beautiful color.. mine was Titanium Silver. I looked for months to find another one around here, but they were all automatic, so I finally gave up and bought something else/more practical. Still miss her thought.. if I'm ever in your neighborhood I might hit you up for a ride
I think they were designed more for a usable torque band rather than top-end power, so while a 3.0L I-6 made 225hp, it made almost as much peak torque. Really puts my car's 240hp from a 2.0L I-4 into perspective for that time period, but then it can only develop peak torque of 153 lb-ft at the upper end of its 9000-rpm rev range.
Interesting, I would have thought more. My Volvo runs 330/379 and pulls hard at mid range, though I have no doubt the M Sport would run circles around me on a track.
Your Volvo is turbocharged though, no? BMW is extracting similar power from their newer turbocharged 3.0 6
