Wow, that's a lot of Pateks, I especially love the first one mainly due to the dial and bezel. Could I ask about what drew you to Patek in the first place?
Very nice, every PP is Tiffany co-branded. Is that your focus and do you have other brands also co-branded with Tiffany?
Wow. Incredible watches. I'm starting to like rubber straps more and more. They look great paired with your Pateks. I was lucky enough to try on a yachtmaster with Rolexs' oysterflex bracelet. REALLY great feel.
Thanks! My first Patek was a non Tiffany stamped 5167a and it was remarkably understated and very easy to wear in many situations. Super light but also substantial. From there it turned into a rabbit hole. Patek (in my opinion) is very different from Rolex in wearability as most of my rolex pieces feel and wear the exact same. My Patek’s all feel different and unique and that’s something I appreciate.
Could that partly be due to the fact that Rolex are pretty much always worn on bracelets while with Patek Phillipe you can easily wear them on leather? The Pateks have a very high level of finish and look very special indeed. Rolex in my opinion just isn't very wearable with me, I've worn 2 recently while deciding what watch I wanted to buy as my first and they just felt so... Clunky? With Patek I cannot comment on wearability since I've never worn one but I'll take your word for it. They look pretty timeless as well. How many of these Pateks do you have? I can't really imagine keeping more than one watch at a time.
I have HATED Pateks seemingly forever. And I cannot put my finger on exactly why such strong emotions get stirred in me by a brand. If you don't like it, don't wear it, right? I also don't know why that has suddenly changed. I find myself now in love with the basic Aquanaut. No sub-dials,but a date window, and a quirky but compelling geometry. I suppose one thing I love is the legibility. That's always been paramount for me. I don't look at a watch as a piece of jewelry. To me it's a tool. There is no reason a tool cannot be stylish and beautiful, but NOT at the expense of utility. Another thing about the Aquanaut that catches my eye is the pattern on the dial and how it's repeated on the rubber strap. So far I've only seen the Aquanaut in pictures. Very compelling pictures. But until it's on my wrist and I can admire it live and in person, I can't make a decision. I did that with my BLRO 16710. I'd coveted that watch since the mid-1980's when I first saw it on Magnum PI. I hemmed and hawed for decades, thinking I'd just do it, then changing my mind because of the relatively small 40mm size. All my Omega Seamasters had been 42mm or larger and I liked that. The Rolex GMT is just barely big enough for my taste. Sometimes it's not. The Patek Aquanaut is also a 40mm watch, but the shape is a little different. Bottom line: I've got to see it on my wrist before I can consulate my love for the PP Aquanaut.
I notice that a lot of your Pateks say Tiffany & Co. on the dial. Are those special versions or is that a standard thing?
