I would love to be in a position to buy all of George Daniels watches as they became available and have them on display somewhere in the UK. Much the same as Lord Ashcroft does with Victoria Cross medals.

Between the British museum and Science museum there are quite a few on display already.

The George Daniels pocket watch went for $2,420,000 and the wrist watch went for $456,250.00.

@impalla62ss Thanks for the pictures / beautiful and wonderful engineering.....I don't want to take anything away from the Paul Newman Daytona (well not too much) sold at $15.5 million but I cant help feeling whoever bought the above got a bargain relatively speaking...…

IIRC, it generally took about 1 year of hard labor by Daniels for each watch to be hand made...

wow 1.5mil pounds, that's the price of a small family home here

Good lord. That's the price of a huge house where I live. The below house is 6,200sqft and $1.9 million.

actually sold for 2.4m CHF all in

Holy Moly! Where do you live that a 'small family home' is so expensive?

London perhaps? This is what £1.5m buys round here.

There are hundreds of neighborhoods across the US from Hawaii to California, Colorado to Chicago, N.VA and NYC where modest home prices are in the millions. I wouldn't be surprised if a few members here may even own a couple.

The Bay Area, California - Like San Francisco and the suburbs around it which are even more expensive.

Jesus christ! That would go for 10-20x the price here. To give you some idea:

Silicon Valley money is quite insane here: I have many peers who own more houses/properties here than many here have watches. $117k/yr income is considered low income here.

Bay Area salary: Is $192,000 per year 'middle class' in San Francisco ...
