Just popped up on my YouTube "watch next" play list, and I was like... I know those guys! Have at Speedmaster fans.
I watched this the other day and really enjoyed seeing William’s collection. My only disappointment was we didn’t get to see the AGA oven.
Just when I thought I had seen every Speedmaster related video on youtube, among the most interesting I've seen pops up. Thanks for sharing. I'll call the cleaning crew to mop up all of the drool now.
VERY enjoyable 22 minutes. Incredible collection as we all already knew (also enjoyed the cars). And I think we now know the identity of the “significant purchase” that @Spacefruit teased last year that piqued our collective interest....
superb video on an amazing collection, really like it's focused on the 1960s & 1970s watches... a time when Omega truly inspired young & old... at least they did for me Highlights: 08:18 Omega messed around a little bit 17:50 Why does Omega do this ? 22:00 a 2nd batch of Alaska III sold to the public... . Didn't even realise there was a second batch of Alaska III Speedmaster chronographs... numbers made ???
This isn't fair. I thought I was doing well with my three (modern) Speedies until I saw that. Seriously though, amazing collection, and I love the information. I learned some new things about Speedmaster history.
Hi All, I just wanted to thank Wei Koh for a great interview and William for sharing some of his fantastic watch collection with us. I was in total awe of the watches shown and William's ability to recall details about each watch.
Just a reminder that I’ll never ever ever get this deep into the hobby. It’s simply not possible. Amazing. Quite illuminating.
Of all the icebergs I have seen, that one has to have the most breathtakingly beautiful tip next up : @gemini4
The story goes that an additional batch of cases were made by Star, with the NASA equipment number, but not stock/serial number. Omega assembled these in to watches, but they were not delivered to NASA. Quantities, and how these ended up in the public domain... not something I've heard openly discussed.
Really enjoyed that Chris. Great post. (Some great Speedmaster photographs in this article.) https://www.revolution.watch/confessions-speedmaster-addict-1969-tribute-apollo-xi-ref-145-022/
