Those who follow me on Instagram have maybe already seen my last post, suggesting to have a #flightmasterweek with the slogan "One Flightmaster a day keeps other watches away"

We can run the same in parallel here, for those who want to join :)

Let’s start with this all correct and original 3rd generation Flightmaster ref. 145.036. It has a massive but very nice and unpolished stainless steel case; tritium dial; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; orange chrono hands. The stainless steel bracelet is 1162/172.

Very cool watch with a strong wrist presence. I’d say this ref must be worn on a steel bracelet to balance the massive watch head.

Get your Flightmasters out of the dark for the #flightmasterweek ;)

Here's my 145.026. Restored at Bienne but retained the trit dial. It mainly stays on the original bracelet, but I also like it on the mesh.

Moving on with this second variation, all correct and original, 3rd generation Flightmaster ref. 145.036. Same massive but very nice stainless steel case; tritium dial; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; yellow (professional) chrono hands. The stainless steel bracelet is 1162/172. Only 11550 watches of this reference were produced between 1973 and 1977.

    BFB0DB60-FE4C-4614-9CE4-5D9697EF532E.jpeg

However the yellow hands were intended for a professional use (they are glowing under the infrared light of the airplane cockpit), both orange or yellow were available as option for your Flightmaster at the time of purchase, back in the early seventies.

Moving on with this 2nd generation Flightmaster ref. 145.026. It has a very nice and unpolished stainless steel case; tritium dial with beautiful chocolate subdials; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; orange chrono hands. The stainless steel bracelet is 1162/172. Only 10900 watches of this reference were produced between 1971 and 1972. This reference was the least produced stainless steel Flightmaster.

Also a very cool watch with a strong wrist presence. I particularly love the perfect dial of this one ::love::

My 145.036. The dial is not as good as yours and the top of the case had been polished. Given as a present on 25.12.1978 according to case back inscription. Love putting it on :)

    Very nice one

Note the tritium of the GMT hand has also degraded the dial between 12 and 1, like on my orange handed 145.036 between 1 and 2 :taunt:

Looks like a bad idea to leave that GMT hand not moving for ages

You can also see where the hour hand has rested for a lond time (53 minute mark).

It's good to see a mixture of dot dials and no dot dials.

Moving on with this Transitional 2nd generation Flightmaster ref. 145.026. It has a very nice and unpolished stainless steel case; transitional tritium dial; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; yellow professional chrono hands. The black vintage leather racing strap complements perfectly the black subdials. Only 10900 watches of this reference were produced between 1971 and 1972. This reference was the least produced stainless steel Flightmaster.

You can easily recognize the Transitional 145.026 by its subcounter at 9 that has a different font compared to the other subcounters. Rumors are that this subcounter had to be reprinted on some already finished dials when Omega moved from the cal 910 on to 911 and the 24h function became running seconds. This font difference was corrected on the later dials of the 145.026 like the one I posted yesterday. A very limited number of those Transitional 145.026s have been observed so far (less than 20 known to me so far) which makes this particular watch maybe even the rarest variation of the Flightmaster family.

Moving on with this 1st generation Flightmaster ref. 145.013. It has a bit polished but still nice stainless steel case; tritium dial with beautiful patina ; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; orange chrono hands. The black racing vintage leather strap from BandRbands reminds the good old Corfam from the seventies. Only 14800 watches of this reference were produced between 1969 and 1971. This reference was the only Flightmaster chronograph without a running second.

145.013 is my preferred reference, by far. The thinner case wears better imo and the dome crystal offers great reflections. I particularly love the colors of the dial and hands ::love::

Moving on with this all original 1st generation Flightmaster ref. 145.013 Professional. It has an exceptional unpolished stainless steel case; tritium dial with beautiful patina ; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; yellow professional chrono hands. Only 14800 watches of this reference were produced between 1969 and 1971. This reference was the only Flightmaster chronograph without a running second.

Ending the series with this exceptional all original 1st generation Flightmaster ref. 145.013.

    558CDA03-F527-461B-B257-FA0086D63680.jpeg

It has a mint stainless steel case; an intact tritium dial ; tritium hour, minute and GMT hands; orange chrono hands. The original stainless steel bracelet is 1159/155. Only 14800 watches of this reference were produced between 1969 and 1971. This reference was the only Flightmaster chronograph without a running second.

This 145.013 is really an exceptional watch. It is literally impossible to capture the bright colors with my camera: the dial and hands are sharp and vivid like on day one.

How many of them still can be found in this conservation condition? Probably very few. #conditionmatters

First timer here, love my Flightmaster, bought 15 or so years ago and wear it every day. I still think its one of the best looking watches ever made.
