ยทNot much with this one really. Got it from chronyves79 on instagram and it had the wrong crown.
I was finally able to source a service replacement from Gleaves, London (and an extra stem, just in case). Since this was my first attempt at redoing a stem on a real watch, I took the "measure 3000000 times and cut like 6 times, plus filing" method along with cleaning up the end of the stem.
I think I might take 1 more thread off as it's sitting just a tiny bit further away than I think. @JwRosenthal seems to agree.
Of course it wouldn't be a project without something dumb happening to the n00b though. I flipped over the case after I took out the stem, and naturally it landed on my lap, tweaking the minute hand and crumbling some of the lume out. I cleaned it up and washed, but of course now I need to remove it all or redo this.
In for a penny candidate soon enough I'm sure ... Oh well, back to this 1913 Waltham (c/o @MoclovFlop ) that I already replaced a broken balance jewel on (super proud of myself for not messing that one up!) but I think it still has a dirty hairspring as it's running at 19,800 and it's supposed to be 18k. Demagged and that made it a little better but still wonky on the timegrapher.
Whole lotta @SkunkPrince straps in the house. (RIP)
