My best friends brother posted on Facebook about his Timex collection. Oh pooh pooh I thought, such a simple man. Timex...good god!

Feeling so supreme in my Rolex, Omega, UG, Breitling world. Then my wife's father died and we are going through his affects, and discover he had a watch collection, dozens of all kinds of simple 50-70s era brands.

Then a few caught my eye...OMG...its a Timex, and another, and another....

I started sweating and shaking......what what what....I like them!!! Now I've been wearing an early 80s Timex Quartz for the past two weeks and I can't take it off. It hasn't run in 35 years, so I scraped some corrosion off the battery hold, found the right equivalent battery(for a Timex A) and after a few initial wonky minutes it has been absolutely perfect. Not a second lost yet!

So here are the pics of a few I'm adding to the collection on behalf of my Father in Law (god rest his soul) and into the hands of someone he never expected would appreciate them.

    1956 Timex wind up....Nice, eh?

I wear these proudly and without shame. Timex is a legit player in horological history. Killing it right now with new releases. 26BA8086-058D-4AEB-AB5E-10EA2CE6BDC8.jpeg F56F1401-3738-4A93-848F-D9125D24151A.jpeg C570AAA3-C22E-49A3-8B51-37C0681AD405.jpeg 95CF5264-A232-4509-950F-818AFE49D91C.jpeg C6AD12C6-F2C5-4F56-9746-7DC3F3DAE4DC.jpeg

I used to spend hours staring into the Timex display case at my local Thrifty Drug & Discount- the Speidel spinning counter display atop of it. I finally saved up enough money to buy one when I was 10, a white dialed quartz with flat link bracelet- I think it was $29. It’s long gone but my reverence for Timex never has.
I think you will find many here with $$$$ collections and a soft spot for Timex.

My 3 get as much wrist time as any of the expensive watches. Actually, 95% of my wrist time is either Casio or Timex.

I will always have a soft spot for Timex . Here is my offering , I don't know the model type but I couldn't resist buying it earlier this year . And it takes forever to line up the day date , so at some point in the year it will be correct . image.jpeg image.jpeg

A guy in Italy decided to make them. You can buy one here: https://www.a-13a.com/shop/en/ Poalo is a great guy and the watch is top notch. Makes me happy when I wear it.

My watchmaker had a nice hardcover book that was published by Timex, a complete history of the make stating with Waterbury and running right through the glory years of the 60s and 70s. It was a great read and I’ve quietly respected the make ever since.

If I ever see a 60s Marlin in good shape I’ll likely pick it up, odd given my collection of railway stuff which is all adjusted to 5 or 6 positions.
