    Non pro dial CHECK!

Odd all the NASA emblems are fuzzed or CG'ed out... I guess they did not get permission to use the NASA logo in time for the commercial.

Just wrote this in the other thread, but I'm guessing that shot wasn't from movie footage but something Omega shot themselves to add in for this promo. Armstrong's watch was a curved-lug Professional 105.012-65 (or -64) but this looks like they took a FOIS on hand and wrapped it around an Apollo-era spacesuit for a marketing closeup

Huh? How can you even tell from that resolution? Looks like a regular moon watch to my eyes but of course I could be wrong. But if that was a FOIS, it was then modded to look like a regular Speedy. How would that even make sense? Not to mention, a lot of watches seen in movies aren't even real watches, though I would imagine in this case it probably is. Still, doesn't compute to me that someone would have thought the most efficient course of action here was to modify a FOIS for no good reason.

No you're right about the crystal - I always forget that the FOIS is sapphire and not hesalite. Case looks like the lugs are less angled too, so maybe it is an actual old Speedmaster. Of course, could be something in the 60th case that has been modified to resemble a 105.003 too

Yeah for sure- the case angles look really sharp though, so I had a feeling it might be a special prop made or something, even. It's more likely that they used the 60th case + crystal as you say, though. But the crystal definitely didn't look like sapphire. I think because there is no silver rehaut it can't be a 105002 either.

It is my understanding ( from what I consider a reliable source ) that the watches are "loaners" from Omega and period correct.

Your local Rolex boutique called: dear Dinexus, we are calling to inform you that you are No. 1 in the waiting list for the Stainless Steel submariner with date ref: 116610LN. The customers ahead of you in the list were unresponsive, hence, we would like to offer you 1 set of 116610LN at MSRP. Will you be interested to come down? We will reserve your spot for 24 hours.

    :p

The watches in the movie are from the Omega museum and the fine folks at the OB in Atlanta actually fitted the watches to the actors in the movie. I know because they told me. The Atlanta OB is hosting a watch party on October 18th and I got an invite. Sadly, I'll be in Austin then. :(

I've always preferred the Omega Seamaster to the Rolex Submariner for a dive watch. The slightly larger Seamaster looks better on my beefy 7 3/4" wrist.
