Seller offered $600 return. Original repairwoman said she could extract the watch for $100, but would have to wait until next week. What to do???
Good deal on both, I think.

It seems to me that this is Omega's error, as there appears to be no other explanation. A yellow / gilt 866 baseplate simply should not exist. If the extract indicates that the serial number belongs to an 863 I would try to persuade Omega to provide a correctly marked baseplate as part of a service, at no additional cost.

They might not even have anymore in stock...i just counter offered for a bit more. If he rejects, I'm just gonna get the full refund.

863 main plate is still available...

UPDATE: Finally got the watch back from extraction. No modifications were found (she also removed a pesky dust particle that I had noticed on the dial). It is the correct main plate, but mislabeled. Gonna keep it as is. I'd like to think this watch as one of a kind!

Any chance they took photos of the dial side of the main plate?

Yes, if you say it out.
He's not sure he trusts the tech that looked unless she had a reference next to it. So still inconclusive.
