That's what I thought too. She said they might have modified it to fit? Or maybe used a spare part from an 866. Here's a clear pic of the 863 that I found on wikipedia. Looks the same as mine.

the movement stamp is right under the balance wheel.. in the pic, that would be around 7 o'clock. can you see 866 there?

Unfortunately, I cannot. Do I have to take the caseback off to see it? I believe that's what she did.

You dont need to take it off. It can be seen from your pic part of it is covered by the rotating wheel.

I would double check with a new watchmaker as that plating did not go on the 866 which was copper based not gilted.

Oh wow. I take my comment back about the service place.

Pic from chronomaddox has the 866 as the normal copper movement. Yours is a gold movement with that pretty pattern. How can it be a 866???

866 and 863 are the same base plate right? The only difference is a module for the moon phase right? And that would only be seen from the other side of the movement.

Seems like time to get an extract.

    If it is an 866...
    1) a 866 baseplate got mixed into the 863 parts bin and you have a factory mis marked movement.

    2) the original movement got trashed and someone had a spare 866 movement pulled the moon phase off of it and swapped it in which would be weird as this would be a reduction in value for the parts at hand.

3)during a service the base plate got swapped with another watch in for service at the same time.

    4) the watch is a really good fake. Do those subdials seem correct to everyone? The seem too inset in the pictures.

The dial looks legit based on some of the 3590.50s posted.

What is the stamped serial number on the case? These speedy should have the serial number also stamped on the case right?

The serial number on the case matches the serial number found on the movement.

you could take it to a boutique and ask them to authenticate it.

I once mistook a 861 for an 863. I don't know how a 1 came to look like a 3, but I crapped my pants until I looked closer after a few deep breaths and found it to be a 1. phew!

if the case and movement match, that's a good sign.

Suspect something similar to #3? Or was repaired using spare parts from a moon phase?

Would love to see how this resolves.
