Get the durability you require with this flight and crash-tested watch from Omega. The toughness of the Omega Speedmaster X-33 watch has been proven beyond doubt, by NASA and military pilots, and has even been rated by the former for their Mars Mission.
Analog-digital watches are becoming more interesting these days and leading the pack is the Omega Speedmaster X-33 watch. It is not a new watch and has in fact been introduced in 1998. This watch is no longer available commercially but if you are a military personnel or if you are a NASA employee, then you can order the watch.
The Omega Speedmaster X-33 watch comes in a titanium case and bracelet so expect it to be lightweight and durable. It is powered by a Calibre 1666 Omega Quartz movement, and is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
This timepiece comes with an alarm loud enough to be heard even in the noisiest cockpit environment. It can even be used as an alarm clock and a flashlight with its 8 lux backlight. The watch is water resistant by up to 100 feet and comes with a mission elapsed time of up to 999 days.

All factual! Come to think of it, I was in grade 6 in '98. Back then the watch rolled all the way around my wrist. The thing that drew me to it was the spacesuit box it came in lol and I was lucky enough to have my folks get it for me!

    Cicindela,

Lovely gen 2. Works great with the leather and clasp. Question for you. Is it necessary to service this watch? I got mine in 1998 and only got a battery change yesterday. I've heard horror stories with omega or should I send it to a trusted watch repair?

I would not send it to Omega for service unless it needed a full refurbish and was not working. In that case Omega will put in a whole new movement for a good deal (though not cheap). Find good trusted Omega watchmaker. When changing battery there are videos on the web to direct you as well . Not hard but you need to be careful. There are small parts and a spring that can be lost. Not simple like a cheap quartz watch. BTW the clasp on mine is Titanium as well.

Well there's a dealer that I bought it from who replaced it for free. I just noticed there are a few specs of dust under the crystal that is bothering the hello out of me. How did it get there!

Going back to the first image I posted,
Do any of you notice that the lume on the minute hand appears thin? I don't know how to verify it but it seems more transparent than the hour hand which is white. By charging it up with a halogen bulb it looks dimmer than the hour (more noticeable in person). Thoughts? Would it be wise to have the hands changed out?

Why change the hands? They seem to work fine and there's no reason to go all Monk over it.

Besides, it's battery powered anyway. :D:whistling:
