I thought those were generally issued with one-piece canvas straps. Certainly looks like an old strap, though.

it says they came with a leather one but had a choice of a canvas strap, it’s certainly got age just wondering if anyone will know any more

Doesn’t necessarily look issued but could be of the period and certainly suitable for your watch.

Hi thanks for the reply, that’s good to know I’ll just keep it as it’s nice to have it’s a little worse for wear

Most folks seem to indicate the issued straps had metal tabs to go over the fixed bars.. and the AF2010 canvas strap was used as well.

“One thing is very clear. Although the Bonklip metal straps were already existing, these were not the straps used on W.W.W. watches. In fact most straps were black leather : pig skin with small metal flaps to secure the strap end wrapped around the fixed bars. In the literature (the book of Marvin Whitney), several woven canvas straps can be seen on the Elgin, Waltham and Hamilton watches of the same era. The nylon pull-through "NATO" straps as we know them today were possibly introduced when the W.W.W. 's came for service, but were not the original ones.”
