Hello everyone,
I'm planning to buy an Omega with caliber 23.4SC, but some parts are missing, including the bridge and balance. Is it worth repairing this watch? And are parts still available?
The watch is being offered for auction, and I've already received a bid of €135. Is it wise to bid even higher?
Thank you in advance for your constructive advice and further comments.

Macx

IMHO it is a waste of money...

small watch, bad dial, missing important parts,
my advise: don´t bid up, try to "escape"

You’ll need another movement from which to scavenge the necessary parts. If you find a donor movement that has the parts you need, then THAT movement is the one you need to service. Trying to rebuild that pos by sourcing the necessary parts on eBay will cost you far and away more than buying an operational equivalent would cost. Class it as a hopeless case, and move on.

This is a GENEROUS read of that watch 😀 It is much worse than that.

Bad hands, bad dial, and is missing the 'valuable' half of the movement (that is, the fragile parts that everyone is looking for). This is worth the value of the empty case, and that is about it. It isn't even worth it as a parts-movement, since the balance/click side is the one that doesn't break (THOUGH it might be nice if you had one with water intrusion in the crown and needed those parts?).

Either way, $135 EUD is quite a bit for that watch as-is, I wouldn't pay half that unless I REALLY wanted that empty case.

I contacted the seller and made him an offer, which he approved. If no one else bids higher, he'll send me another watch, a nice Moeris. The asking price was €93 for the Moeris, so I'm down about €40. But hey, I'm already happy that a solution has been found.
I love this brand, and I didn't have this one with the fancy lugs in my collection yet, so even though I had to pay a bit of a price, I'm happy with it.
Thank you all very kindly for the helpful information; this was a learning experience.
