I need help. I have a watch my dad gave me years ago that I would like to sell but not sure what it's worth or where to begin to sell it. I know it's a high value watch as he always told me it's worth "a lot." Just not sure how much. Any help would be appreciated.

It might be worth a lot but finding someone who would actually want to buy it could be a problem.

Unfortunately really only worth the melt value for the gold plus a few bucks, not a desirable model.

+1. I'm afraid that goes up for 99,9% of all ladies watches.

Any local places to take it to in the Chicagoland area to have it looked at and appraised? Or to put on consignment to sell it?

As mentioned, the value of the watch is mostly in the gold. This is unfortunately true for most of the ladies watches.
If you have a look at eBAY, you will notice the demand for these is typically low. Your best bet, IMO, would be to take it to a jeweler who also sells watches and have them evaluate the watch. My guess is it would be worth melt+ 10%.

Remember that "appraisals" are not the same as the "selling price". I had an appraisal on my first Rolex DateJust for $4800 - yet they only sold for $1400 - $2000 pre-owned at the time. Ended up selling it for $1550.
