Hi there, i got this watch from home. My dad said he got it since the 70s. Anyone knows if this is a genuine piece or the origin of this watch or anything about it?

I believe this is a geneve automatic with a 613 cal movment inside. It also came in stainless steel which has the refrence number 136.0049. The stainless steel version came on a leather strap. It is from the early 70s. If you can get the back off it you will find a refrence number and you can search for it on the internet. Obviously yours needs some tlc, it looks like it has been out on the piss and spilt a kebab down its shirt front. They do not command much money even if it was gold it would probably worth its gold value and not much more, although it could have been a quartz watch and worth even less. There is a quartz model and they were stupid expensive when they came out but are under appreciated today.
    Hope this helps.

Sorry but it can not be a cal. 613, it is a manual wind date movement.

I guess it could be this one, and yes it is genuine

Doh, this is the second time I have found a watch on the internet that is almost exactly the same and not noticed that it did not have automatic written on it. The ref 136.0049 is a mechanical geneva watch that has the same case design. Note to self: must pay more attention to detail.

watch can be serviced, and hopefully fixed. where are you? we may be able to recommend someone. DO NOT take it back to an Omega store!
The servicing/fixing is likely to cost more than the watch is worth(excluding the value of the gold bracelet), but given it is your father's then it might be worth it for sentimental reasons.

I guess I am missing something. The dial does say automatic! Is this a transplanted or poorly refinished dial?

    TNT,

Thanks a lot for your very helpful reply! And, no, I didn't get up too early, or party all night! I admit I don't know all the minutiae of many of the erudite members of this forum, but the dial does say automatic!

It's TV time! My AUTOMATIC 1020 166.0188 says Hello! I like the look of a brown strap on these. Your Croc strap looks great! Enjoy your Dad's watch! DSC06222.JPG
