Omega twisted lugs.

Hi all.
Yesterday I seached Google for Omega twisted lugs and it pointed me to some threads from other forum. People said omega started its twisted lugs in 1964 on the Speedmaster and SM 300. Before that Omega only made straight lugs blah...blah...some even said Omega copied the design from Universal Polerouter....
In my collection, I have a 2475 chronograph with twisted lugs. Serial number 15mil that means 1955, 56 ...
If you have anything earlier than that, please share.

Regards.

Hoi.

Just coincidentally, the Omega I'm wearing today (and since Sunday) is a '53 ref 2667.

I think this is the first example of a twisted lug case from Omega as I've never seen one earlier. I'd also like to know if there's an even earlier reference.

Well, the Polerouter was released in 1954, so the odds of Omega copying the case design seem highly unlikely...

I looked around a bit and it seems like the earliest Omega references with twisted lugs I could find were the ck2488 and ck2639.

Omega ck2488, 1949

Omega ck2639, 1949

These seem to predate Longines, IWC, and Rolex examples, so it seems like Omega was the first to streamline the 'floral/ornate' lug style into the more modern 'lyre' lug we see today.

Refs 2639/40 have twisted lugs that are more evident from below . . .

. . . than above.

Can I join with this Zenith?
I believe that it’s twisted lugs too.

Thanks

I would consider this to be more in the family of 'ornate/floral' lug designs, rather than the more modern 'twisted/lyre' style. The key elements are there though, since the latter is basically a refinement of the former. Nice watch!

Cal. 283 in a 35mm gold cap case. Unusual dial.

This is now my preferred design paired w 35-36mm.

2791 and 2891 manual look great but which non chronograph refs in the 60s and or with automatics have this design?
