Omega to Rolex and back to Omega

How many of you thought you wanted a Rolex Submariner only to find out Rolex wasn't for you? Well, that describes me. I had an America's Cup, traded for a Sub and hated it, way to small on my wrist. Went back to an Omega and love it. 20160821_135047.jpg 20160829_144504.jpg 20160915_123448.jpg

I'm all in with Omega. Can't say I see myself jumping ship to Rolex.

How can you say you are "all in" with only 8 pieces. Just kidding. Nice collection.

I guess I saved myself some money because I would never buy a Rolex.

Rolex makes great, easily recognizable watches. Even those who're not into watches can easily spot a Rolex.
And this is exactly why I prefer Omega's; they're less attention grabbing yet still a huge pleasure to wear.

I sold my 300MCA and Planet Ocean 2500XL to fund a Rolex Yachtmaster. Although I love my Yachty... I do miss my Omegas much more. I've since come back to Omega with a couple of pieces (DSOTM, 300M Ceramic, and PO 8500 42) and added some Rolexes as well. Hard to say that I would only go one direction or another as both distinguished brands have their own positives and distinctions. I find myself wanting different models regardless of brand for their own merit and boxes each one checks. If I had to pick just one though... it would be the new Rolmega =)

I must confess that I love both, Omega (Speedies) and Rolex (Pro), in parallel.
    I can´t chose between them...

LOL, well I do have a few more Omega watches, but I am on vacation and do not have a recent group shot. So I will leave you with this one.

But for the record, I do like some of the Rolex watches, like the hulk and the deep sea dweller, but I just can't get over the stigma attached to wearing a Rolex. I think they attract more attention than I like (i see the irony as I post my watches on WRUW each day), the perception of wearing a large sum of money on the wrist, dealing with inquiries if it's real, etc, etc.

Nobody has yet to ask me anything about my watches, aside from a few compliments (1-2 a year) of "that is a nice watch". I don't think I would have the same results if I had a Rolex collection similar to my Omega collection.

I don't think one brand is better than the other but Rolex doesn't really do it for me. I do own a Tudor Pelagos and I love it. It's a lot of watch for the money.

Left Omega for Rolex briefly, sold a GMT and an Explorer 2 and went back to the 2254.50 as I missed my old one and it was less than half the price. I also just bought an Aqua Terra with a 2500 movement. To me, the 2000-2010 decade was golden for Omega. I love the watches for their styling, comfort and price. The new Omegas are great but.........

You nailed it. There are soooooooo much more fake rolex watches out there than omegas. And they make very nice fake ones as well so that being said, I don´t want people wondering is that watch real?? For the money, you can get a more "exclusive" watch like a JLC or Breguet that doesn´t rise that kind of questions, but are also just known to people more involved with watches.

I have three Omegas (two modern - SM300 MC and SM 300M Diver - and one vintage Constellation), as well as a modern Submariner. I have never once received any comments on the Rolex, either positive or negative. My Omegas, however, are a different story; they attract attention and compliments on a regular basis. I suppose it may be because the design of the Submariner is so widely imitated that it's tough to tell from a distance whether it's a Rolex or a Steinhart or whatever else it may be. The Omega designs, on the other hand, are a bit more distinctive.

Oddly, it makes me a bit more confident in anonymity when I'm wearing the Sub.
