Omega Techcron 30SCT2 18 Jewels on EBay

New collector here. I saw this watch sold at auction on eBay yesterday for US$493. I didn't buy this, but just wanted to learn more about it.

Description states it's a 32mm case with an 18-jewel movement, serial 9245031. No movement photo and when I asked the seller, the auction was almost over and they didn't provide photos.


From my research this looks like a "Techron model P-12", case ref. 2242 originally ordered for the RCAF but also sold to civilians. The hands and crown have been replaced. The movement serial number 9245031 is very close to others I found with similar dials:

• 9245680 sold on the forum, with a "non magnetic" dial
• 9245745 with same dial, interestingly with the same replacement hands used
• 9245992 with same dial

A few questions I had;
1. Is there a way to tell apart the RCAF vs civilian Techrons?
2. Does the dial look original, and are there any other red flags I'm missing?
3. What do you think about the price? I couldn't find any recent comparables and I feel like this may have undersold as the listing was missing a lot of information, but I'm just speculating here.

Hands don’t look original. Military styled dial, but yellow gold dress styled hands. Would have had needle pointed baton styled.
