Nice to see that a vintage Omega I bought on my own (not through Ash's recommendations) as a newbie collector has its own article now. The style never looked strange to me but after spending some time on the forums, I understand why people might think so.

Thanks for yet another great article. How do you get the time?! It was really nice to see the humble 166.067 given the treatment - you're right it divides opinion sharply (do you say it's like Vegemite/Marmite?). I know I love mine. Just a footnote here: mine has cal 564 chronometer movement, and I've no reason to suppose it didn't leave the factory like that - but maybe I'm self-deluded?

I believe you used the 165.067 / 552 from Closer's auction for the story, if I'm not mistaken (https://www.ebay.com/itm/284882829285) ... do you believe it's a good example at a fair price? I'm keen on grabbing it if so.

 

I was wondering about the color difference, so thanks for spotting that. The dial looked honest enough of a clean example with sharp text. With so many watches, keeping them dateless has been more advantageous for me when I just want to throw one on. Nothing worse than a watch 12 days off the date and no quickset feature.

 

You're killing my wallet lol or enabling its early demise anyway. After their 10% sale, $30 in ebay rewards, and adding tax, I ended up at $703 out the door. Not bad. And since it's under the $800 import threshold, I shouldn't have to pay any additional fees.
