The Seamater DeVille Kleerback is a very unusual watch that would appear occasionally in sales listings or watch forum posts even before omegaforums existed and left collectors scraching their heads. [..]

Another vintage Omega "oddity" that captured my imagination about ten years ago.
Unfortunately they were only available in the US, and but for a brief time when the Aussie dollar eclipsed the US dollar, the end cost to have one landed in Australia was a bit much for me.

Nice to see this unusual variant discussed and documented in a bit more detail.

I must have failed to pay attention for I'd never heard of this one before. It's one display back I'd love to own and wear!

Thanks mate yea I like the weird / oddball stuff, its probably a better thing to stick to for now as there is an awful lot of good stuff that hasn’t been covered much in the omega world.

Those lesser known cool or interesting pieces are also some of the best deals around so I tend to post them a lot in the recommended thread when they pop up.

Another well written article. Filled in some history I wasn't aware of too 👍

I picked this one up three years ago while visiting NYC with my old man. Checked upcoming NYC auctions before departing and noticed that this beauty would be auctioned off during our stay in the city.

Do you mind if I add those pics to the article? That’s a really pretty example you have there.

Hi everyone and greetings from the UK.

After a bit of a wait, I managed to find one of these online this week. Looking forward to it arriving. I’m completely new to watches so am quite excited. It’ll be my first Omega and 2nd automatic. Will post some pictures when it arrives

Hi all and thanks for the welcome dsio.

The Kleerback arrived from the US and I’m delighted with it. Having been able to look at it in person, I’m very surprised it didn’t prove to be more popular design at the time. I guess tastes change over time and it’s more delicate than a standard one

I tried to take some nice photos of it, failed and then realised I could share the excellent ones used to advertise it.

Overall it’s in great shape. There’s a little mark on the dial and a tiny scuff on the case but for early 60 years thats nothing. It’s survived really well so it’s on me to keep it that way now!

I might try and find a period metal strap for it at some point when I figure out what one it should / could have had originally

Does anyone have a reference number for the back crystal? I have a two of these Kleerback watches. One with a presumably original back crystal and another with a pretty terrible replacement.

There is probably an Omega part number for it, but I’ve never seen it.

Pretty sure that the original rear crystal was neither signed nor has a retaining ring, so it would not be the same as the front crystal.
