To me the Grey Starburst kind of stands alone as the nicest looking model. 😀

Hey Ash

Social media getting crazy …. Instead of centralizing info we are now seeing being spreaded everywhere …

I posted the below comment but did not want it to get lost in the sauce …

Ash , it’s a great watch ! Super size on the wrist . FYI these cases are also “ super shock proof” you will notice the dial “ floats” under the crystal. There is an air gap between top of dial and the under crystal bezel ring . The movement is mounted to a ring that is suspended by four rubber grommets. Which allowed the movement to take additional shock with minimal impact to the movement . Best bill

I’ve added this now to the case section after reading up on it, thanks for that Bill

Great write up as always! Thanks.

I bought a NOS one with the sparkle dial many years ago and a couple of years ago I gave it to a young man I had mentored a bit - as a graduation gift. He had been showing interest in watches and I wanted to nudge him fully over the edge and into vintage. It seems to have worked... somewhat... he does like vintage watches but he also became a lawyer. ;-) What did I do wrong!?

A wonderful watch. Especially on a (genuine) alligator strap.

Interestingly one of the specific watches shown in the related article to this thread was on sale last night (NZ time) on Yahoo Japan. And when I mean 'specific' I mean the exact same watch. Check the plexiglass scratch from 12-3 o'clock and the slight glass chip at 3 o'clock. The watch sold for about $840 USD and was listed as a 166.065 on Yahoo but noted at as a 168.035 in this article, which should be the right reference given the Chronometer certification.

The article watch is the first picture shown below.

Hi Ash!
Bill noted that the movement ring is suspended by four rubber grommets. (The IWC Yacht Club uses a similar design) I am restoring a 166.065 which is missing the grommets. Could you tell me the diameter and length of the grommets? I was unable to source the original material for a Yacht Club so I found a rubber o ring and made grommets that worked perfectly.
