OMEGA Stopwatch - Advice

I received this Omega stopwatch from my father a few years ago or, more accurately, about 20 years ago. It is still working, but unfortunately, the glass is broken.

My question is whether these stopwatches hold much value. I am based in South Africa.

I am also trying to identify the model number of this particular stopwatch.

Would you recommend having the stopwatch serviced and repaired by an Omega agent in South Africa, or should I send it to Switzerland for servicing and repair, as my sister-in-law lives there and could have it serviced locally?

I would appreciate any advice on the best option, particularly regarding the cost, quality of the repair, and whether having it serviced in Switzerland would make a difference to its value.

Value is limited. Servicing in Switzerland will cost you a multiple of the value. Check ebay sold for values... An example:

To have it serviced and fitted with a new crystal, if done in SA, will equal or be more that the value of the watch.
Sending it to Switzerland will cost significantly much more, and will not add any more value to the watch.

Unless it has huge sentimental value, I would suggest putting it aside as a keepsake.

As others have said, dedicated stop watches have only a small value, perhaps a small premium depending on the manufacturer but values are nowhere near the values of a standard pocket watch from the same manufacturer.
But as always beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what they might be willing to pay for it.
Having said that your stopwatch looks rather nice!

Darn, that thing is gorgeous! Its a shame how much it would cost to fix that in comparison to its value.

And yeah, stopwatches are really kinda low-value. I got an Elgin Jitterbug a while back for sub-$100 in similar shape to the above, and it lives on my desk rat-a-tat-ing away any time I want something to fidget with 😁
