Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm glad I found it. There sure is a lot of info that I have read. So, here is my question. I have a speedmaster professional that was given to me for my birthday either in 1968 or 1969 and it has the 1039 bracelet on it and it's in really good shape but I would like to replace it with one that would look original to the year of the watch. Believe it or not this watch had been sitting in my drawer for at least 20 plus years and it keeps perfect time. I just wish I could find the box and papers but back then being young you never seem to do the right things.
So, if anyone could tell me where I might find a new bracelet that would look true to the year of it I'd sure appreciate it.
    Thanks

Hi Andy. Can't help you with your question, but did want to say that you should not wind it until it's been serviced. Most certainly the oils have dried up and it needs to be cleaned and lubricated.

    Got pix?

For a used bracelet check eBay. For a new one check here, http://www.ofrei.com/page1280.html

BTW , things have gone up a bit since the last 40 years :D

I'll have to get my son to take some pic's of it. I wound it up and it's just like new, there was a swiss service center by me and they wanted 700 bucks to clean it and service it.

Chronographs are higher to service, but that seems a bit high. I'm sure we can hook you up with a recommendation.

A lot of us use Steve (N2FHL on this forum) you can send him a PM and he will take care of it, he's cheaper than most but more importantly, he understands vintage Omega and will do everything needing to be done without compromising the originality of the watch. His profile is here: http://omegaforums.net/members/n2fhl.493/

Send him a PM with what you're after and he'll take good care of you.

We also have Archer in Canada

Well I finally got the number from my case on my speedmaster pro it was 145022-68st which if I looked it up right it has the 861 cal.

Yeap, that's the rather uncommon transitional model with the applied Omega symbol dial (like the Cal 321) but with a Cal 861 movement

While some speedmaster 145.022-68 watches did have the transitional dial, the majority of them did not and in fact had the typical 861 dial with the painted on omega symbol.

Ah really? I'd always made that association for the '68s, I didn't realise they went either way

So what does that mean painted on omega symbol?

Applied is the silver metallic omega symbol "applied" to the dial and painted on is the omega symbol in white paint similar to the rest of the lettering on the dial.

The Omega symbol (above the word Omega) comes in two forms, it can either be flat, white and painted onto the dial, or it can be silver, and an actual piece of metal attached to the dial.

Can you take some pictures and post them for us?
