·This is the Omega Speedmaster Triple Date 3523.80.00.
No congratulations necessary, it is not mine; I'm just borrowing it.
It sure feels great on my wrist but it is a bit small at 39mm. I think that is standard for the
automatic Speedmaster models. The hand winder models are more my size at 42mm. The
dial is a beautiful blue with lots of depth and range of color depending on light angle.
It is an automatic with quite a few added complications, worth describing I guess. It can be
manually wound and unlike many autos with hand wind, it really sounds and feels like a
hand wind, with the clicks of a lock ratcheting across a geared crown wheel.
With the crown out 2 clicks you set central hour and minutes hands as with most watches.
The arrow subdial hand at the 9 o'clock position shows the 24 hour time. The other subdial
hand at 9 o'clock shows seconds. It is a hacking movement.
With the crown out 1 click you set the central hand that is the pointer date. As you turn this
a full rotation it changes the month shown in the window.
Use a pen on the indented pusher on the case near 10 o'clock to set the day of the week
shown in the window.
The chronograph has a central seconds hand, minutes on the 12 o'clock subdial, and up to 12
hours on the 6 o'clock subdial. Chrono is controlled by the 2 pushers, start/stop and reset like
most chronographs.
Anyway, on to the good stuff, a few pictures:
