Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to watch collection, only started a few years ago. And this is my first purchase of an Omega, therefore I need some assistance.

I did the much appreciated and clever thing and bought the watch from an auction, without thoroughly researching the watch at all. I put down a bid thinking I wouldn't get it.

So what I'm looking for is an opinion if the watch seems genuine, and what exact model it might be.

The leather band is not original, it's from an Tissot watch, but the buckle is Omega. Besides that it's running well and in a good condition. And the days are in Spanish.

Best regards

A.

Hi, welcome.

As a starting point search here/google Speedmaster 3220.50.

Incorrect bezel?? Other more wise heads will be along.

Good luck.

The watch doesn't look genuine to me.
Hi! Thanks for the reply, what about it doesn't look genuine? I'd love to learn more about what to look out for when it comes to Omega.

Compare the dials and the casebacks.

This is, at best, a franken...serial number on the case back gives this result:

Serial number: 55168464
Article ref: 38205326

That is this model:

Clearly not what you have there. So the case appear to be from the 38205326, but the dial is from a 35213000, and the hands are...from something else entirely. The minute hand in particular is quite an odd style, and not one of I've seen on any of these Speedmaster date models.

So what you have is very much and mix of things. Now this can be put right if you wanted to, as the dial and hands for the 38205326 are available from Omega, but it's up to you.

Cheers, Al

It would be interesting to see the inside of the watch.

Can you still return it? If you bought and it was advertised as legit and now you find quickly here it’s a Frankenstein that would upset me. Unless you paid very little for it.

It was advertized as legit, even though the seller seemed to know less than i do about Omegas. I will reach out to him and discuss. I didn't pay a fortune, but definitely enough to try to get the money back.

Good. Good luck. I would guess you paid enough where for that much or not much more you could get a legit one. That’s assumption on my part of course. Hopefully the seller isn’t an ass and gives you a refund which clearly you deserve if he stated it was original. I hope it works out for you

Quick reply.

I contacted the seller with the information I gathered here. He had no idea himself. He was ultimately thankful for the information, he paid back the money immediately and the watch was returned.

Thanks for everyone's help regarding the matter.
I'll do some more research before my next Omega purchase.

Glad to hear it. Obviously there are numerous scammers in the watch world but I do believe there are a lot of people just selling things they were swindled on or had items gathered they did not know where fakes. I can’t even guess the percentage of honest mistakes.
