I have a modern speedmaster that I purchased in 2012 and was wondering if you can actually tell the year of manufacture from its serial number?

It’s a ref 3570 5000
S/N starts with 7776

I purchased a 2012 catalogue of off eBay recently to go with my watch and the price for it is after it was updated with the new box and bracelet change. At the time the watch was £2800 in October 2012

77,000,000 – 77,999,999 2005

 

That is not the case, Moonwatch Speedmasters have been in the 77-79m range for around 20 years, you can't be that specific. Other Omega models increment more regularly, Speedmasters don't, they stay in narrow ranges and jump big serial gaps every now and then.

 

Any sites that chart these modern Speedy production dates?
