The "P" Word!

I have yet to discover exactly what Omega thought was standard fitment at the time.

But one thing for sure these were not prototypes

Small batch production, yes.

This thread and story just keeps getting better and better. Who would have thought strolling ebay while waiting one and a half hours for an appointment at the vehicle registration office to emerge into something like that! Thanks @Rodsch for showing up out of nowhere and for posting the pictures! The internet is an amazing place, sometimes.

What's your take on the hands though? If I recall you have 2 pieces as well. Once in awhile a piece with full white hour and minute hands come along. What's your take on those? Original?

I think when sent to Omega for service that Omega fit MkII hands as service replacement.

I have seen this before in another Omega Serviced watch.

@Spacefruit seems like a couple of pieces have gone by you, have you managed to work out a serial range from what you've encountered so far?

maybe the key lies in the subregisters...white, orange, red-orange...which as @Spacefruit mentions, could be service replaced MKii hands.
But : from the above pic it appears the tritium darkening in the hour/min hands matches that on the dial (didnt appear so with previous pics)...so why would they replace the subregister hands but not the others? Ours is not to reason why...

If one looks at the watch on the left of @Spacefruit s first pic here :

https://omegaforums.net/threads/same-same-but-different-grey-racing-edition.60467/

That also looks similar (i.e. white, orange, red-orange (6'o-clock))...one on the right looks like it has two same orange sub-register hands. Both appear to have aged tritium matching(darker!) that on the dial too...

Moonwatch Only looks like two of same coloured sub-register hands.
