Have received a Omega Speedmaster Professional ST145022 with a serial number 284268XX think its a 1970 version. Seems to be working if a little dirty. Just wanted some more information on it, Whats its value etc. Thanks Scott
http://speedmaster101.com is a good source for info. 28 mill movement would suggest 68 thought. But I don't the so with that caseback and dial. I may be wrong but someone far more knowledgeable will be along shortly.
It's possible that everything comes together except the movement, which in my opinion carries the most value for the set.
Thanks for your reply's. So is the movement correct and its a 1970 version from the serial number? Has someone changed the dials and back? Why would this have different parts and because of this does it effect the value? Thanks
Dial looks wrong too, but it is hard to judge based on the blurry pictures, but to be original and period correct It should be a stepped dial.
Dial is 76 through mid 80's case back is at least 71. My guess is either serviced and got a new caseback at some point or a collection of parts from multiple watches.
But it's still an awesome watch - I have a very similiar model (newer) that I can never get off my wrist.
The serial is from '69 and shall be with a DON bezel. Credit: https://www.ilovemyspeedmaster.com/productiondateprediction/
Scott, what you have is a Speedmaster that is not as it was originally made. As such, it is of little interest to a collector. As it's not serviced, I would place it in the "poor" category and would only buy it if there was room in there to re-sell after a full service. That said, I'd have the same problems selling it that you will now. Put it on eBay with a no reserve, 10 day auction at a 99p/$1 start ... it'll reach over £1000 and maybe up to 2 but regardless of the selling price, you will get the market value. Be sure to take much clearer photos in better light than you have provided here. If need be, go out and buy/borrow a decent camera with a macro setting or lens.
From the info/pics we have, it's certainly not in the good category. More likely to be value as parts.
