im a fan of speedmasters. To the point where I'm on my way to a small collection of them.

The professional moonphase model has caught my eyes a few times. But something always keeps me from buying. Would like your thoughts in favor or against.

Notice how the photos always show the tachy hand not set at 12?

They've told me at the boutique that's the time they set all their watches for optimum visibility.

I'm thinking if you have to ask others why/ if you should get it you may be better off saving your $ and buying something you know that you like.

Exactly. And would you do that too?

    Why does that matter?

On-topic, I personally prefer an older moonphase:

    Or a new one:

Because when in its default position, the tachy hand blocks the Moonphase. May not matter to you but it would annoy me

Chrono second hand normally blocks the logo too. Does that bother you?

It doesn't detract from reading the moonphase or date, so it's not a big deal.

The new ones are amazing. But the 44mm case still draws me off a bit.

I'm really hoping they change to a slimmer caseback.

Honestly just waiting for Basel and to see if I manage to get a speedy Tuesday. I'm just on the waiting list. Didn't manage a reservation.

No, blocking the logo doesn't bother me. Obviously. I'm pretty sure you know it's not really the same

Speedy moonphase just came out last year and is just now starting to come to boutiques. Don't expect an update until everything is Master Chronometer (long way off).

How is it different? It's not like the moonphase is an essential everyday thing you need to know.

I loved mine but if I had to do it again I would go for the older hesalite version... I thought the sapphire crystal was a distraction.

    Cheers

Changing the caseback wouldn't require much work. The current ones like on dsom basically just have empty space. I'm sure something could be reworked to slim them slightly without being a complete overhaul.

So you buy a regular speedmaster for the logo do you? If you like it, good for you, but when someone buys a moonphase watch, that moonphase is a massive part of the purchase decision.

If I could manage to find a good one. That would be my first choice. Current one is good looking but that one was awesome. Plus very rare.

That still requires them to change manufacturing and redo testing. I'm being 100% serious when I say it. Will. Not. Happen.
