I am the proud owner of this Speedmaster Pro 1966. Hereunder some of the details and history. I would really appreciate your comments on this watch. And although I am not looking to sell the watch, I wonder what the value is. I am a fan of the speedmaster101 site and I wonder if this is collectors condition according to the speedmater101 price chart.

    Details:
    -1966 HF, 105.012
-According to the abstract from the archives produced on 5 June 1967
    -Delivered to Switzerland
    -Movement: 321
    -Movement nr: 24.950.xxx
-Bracelet 1039 with 516 end links

I bought the watch in 2007 from the son of the first owner who bought this watch in Switzerland. The son kept the watch in a safe for 20 years before he sold the watch to me and told me that is was very important to keep the watch going so he winded the watch al least ones a month. Together with the watch, I was given the signature of Jim Lovell, one of the astronauts of Apollo 13 (in the movie played by Tom Hanks). I have worn the watch so every now and than but over the years started to realize that this watch was not just a everyday speedmaster Pro and I had other speedmasters to wear as an alternative so I stopt wearing it. Since the book Speedmaster only came out, my interest in Speedmasters has even more increased.

MY QUESTION: I would appreciate any comment as to originality or anything, anyone notices or thinks is worth to mention. Just for my archive and to satisfy my insatiably need for speedy knowledge! Thanks in advance!

In my humble opinion, that is a very well-preserved and beautifully aged example of an old Speedy. The state of the bezel is amazing. Judging from your pictures, the bezel does not have a dent or scratch? The case looks sharp, and in no way soft. This is especially visible on the lugs. You are one lucky man!

Excellent example, beautifully aged and in a great state! I would grade it towards collector, not only for it’s originality but especially because it comes along with that case, most beautiful and sharp with all textures.

Very nice. There aren't many out there which justify the collector description or price but that one must be close I would think.

Thanks a lot. it is right that the bezel does not have a dent or scratch. That is in fact surprising. The first owner (so I was told by the son) was very fond of this watch and worked in office so that might explain why it still looks so good. I just added that I also have the original 1039 bracelet with 516 end links. It seems that those bracelet are also quite rare.

I'm guessing office work has changed. I also work in an office, yet I keep getting battle scars on mine. ::confused2::

Is there anyone who dares to give an estimate of the value of the watch with the bracelet?

Padders mentioned that this is close to ‘collector’ grade. So if you go to Speedmaster101 and find your watch in the ‘price’ section, look at ‘collector’ that will give a good indication of the value of the head alone. If the bracelet is in good condition you can expect about $1.5k +\- more. If you have box and papers, add a bit more.

Edit : a well known dealer sold one in similar condition to yours last week with bracelet for $15k.
