    Hi All,
Fresh off the bench after service I'm offering a very rare Speedmaster for sale. This is the 145.022-71ST with the smooth case back. There is no “First watch worn on the moon” engraving. According to information here and other Omega sources this was apparently due to permission from NASA not having arrived for the new style case back in time for production. The number of No NASA case back versions of the 71 Speedmaster is allegedly very, very small.

I purchased this from the original owner here in my city - Perth, Western Australia. It came as the watch head only, I do not have a bracelet or any original papers. He says the watch has spent its whole life in Western Australia and for the last twenty five years has been unused in a drawer as it was an unsuitable watch to wear while working as a builder. Of course I cannot provide documentation of this, only his say so. Our climate here is very dry, it is almost never humid here. These factors to me explain the lack of colour change on the luminous paint.

An Extract of the Archive is on the way and will be forwarded to the purchaser. If it transpires that something doesn’t add up when the extract arrives I will be happy to immediately refund the purchaser in full and take the watch back. I’m confident all is as it should be.

This Speedmaster has had a complete overhaul - performed by me, in my Omega audited and soon to be fully certified workshop. I have serviced the movement and replaced the mainspring. Inside the movement showed very little discernible wear The chronograph runs and resets properly and crisply. Timekeeping is excellent. There are several other service marks in the case back. As far as I can be reasonably sure, none of them are from Omega themselves.

The case has been left as found, no case refinishing, with the exception of a light polish to the crystal. There are no major gouges out of the case back and it too remains in original unrefinished condition. There is a small flat spot on the bezel edge on the 9 o’clock side.

According to MWO, all details are correct and according to me, original to the watch. Original bezel, crystal, crown, pushers, dust cover, movement ring, case back of course.

As this is a 71’ it has a step dial which as you can see from the photos is near perfect. All tritium luminous is still intact but it has not changed colour. This dial looks pretty much factory fresh in terms of coloration. Hands are the same with only a minor amount of white paint loss on the arbors of the subdial hands. Again, almost no change in coloration.

The price is $7400USD which includes the expensive PAYPAL fee's and express delivery by DHL. My pricing reflects the ‘Good’ column from Speedmaster 101 - all parts are correct and the watch has been serviced. If you're happy to make a bank wire then the Paypal fee's can be avoided and I’ll reduce the price accordingly. I'm located in Perth, Western Australia.

Dark spots on the dial in the photos are from shadows being cast from marks on the crystal. Please refer to the uncased movement pics for the condition of the dial and hands. Photos have been taken with a very harsh and direct ‘Ring’ light which shows up every mark.
