Omega Speedmaster (no-name) Frankenwatch...

Hi Forumsfriends!

A question (or two…🙄)

Is it really stupid to buy a Speedmaster made of serviceparts, new old parts etc?
The lume on the dial and hand are luminova (maybe not so sexy...).
The case looks sharp...
But the worst thing is that the movement is a Lemania 1873!

Even if the price would be very good, am I fooling myself?
It would be a day 2 day watch, and not having to be careful with the watch is a plus!

But if I get tired or bored with it (or need cash...), are the more fools like me out there willing to buy it??🤦

Looking forward to the usual bantering and flogging/whipping!

Cheers!

the price would be very good…
…if it was free, which you can then part it out to put it out of its misery. 😁

This is not something I would buy.

I've seen a number of speedmasters around lately that are made entirely of parts, and / or have an 1873 movement. At least in this case the seller is being upfront about the movement so there's no deception.

People do seem to be buying them, so there's a resale market. But this option seems to only make sense if it's really cheap, like less than half the price of a normal used speedmaster. I can't see much appeal in an 1873-driven speedmaster, which many would consider as technically fake, other than cost.

My main concern about parts speedmasters these days is the proliferation of fake cases and bezels, which have found their way onto many watches and may be more likely in more budget builds. Total parts value of a watch like this would take a major hit if the case ended up to be fake.

Thanks Guys!

Out of all the answers, everybody thinks it a NoGO!
I really appreciate your help here, sometime a cheap and good-looking watch can make you blind!
So ditching this one, and on again for something else...😵‍💫

Yes, fake parts are starting to be a real issue - they are not well made and often do not fit a real case properly. Only buy parts like this from trusted sources.

Hi Guys!
As usual, I followed your kind answers and didn't go for it!

This watch found a new owner for 1875 € / 2070 USD....
