This Omega Speedmaster almost landed on the moon. From the identical range of the Omega Speedmaster Professional for the Apollo 11 mission, this specimen is in perfect condition and from the very same NASA range as the Apollo 11 Omegas of astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, with the unbeatable, perfect 321 movement. James H. Ragan was responsible for astronaut watches at NASA. Six to 12 months before the moon flight, he ordered the watches from Omega and gave them to the astronauts to settle. This specimen was created 9 months before the Apollo 11 moon flight, at the same time as the astronauts. For comparison, the Apollo 11 Omega from a NASA archive image (copyright NASA and Omega) is shown. Quite clearly here, too, the white light stripes on the dial.
The copy offered here is unique in this condition. It's the only real Pre Moon watch, not the ones before that, and not the after-built Speedmasters are from exactly this series and time. The watch, almost not worn, has all the defining features of the Apollo 11 mission: crown 32 teeth, thick massive pushers, the logo in relief, the 90 with the above point, the right and original hands, the solidly asymmetrical case to protect the crown and Pusher, which was expressly prescribed for Austronaut use and was implemented for the first time for this series. And most importantly last: The light stripes and points are just like those for the spaceflights in white (!) And not colored or greenish made, so they have a significantly longer lighting time - essential difference to the conventional models. Thus, this clock would have been a potential replacement clock for the first and subsequent Apollo moon flights. The watch can be viewed in Switzerland or, when visiting Germany. In this form and condition unique and an absolute rarity. Also at this price an attractive and unique investment.
